BATON ROUGE – LSU Online & Continuing Education is working with the Association for Talent Development, or ATD, and its Certification Institute to give talent development certification holders a chance to gain college credits toward an online degree.
ATD’s Associate Professional in Talent Development, or APTD, and Certified Professional in Talent Development, or CPTD, certification recipients will have an opportunity to apply their certifications for LSU college credit toward one of the eligible online degrees or graduate certificates—saving them time and money.
“ATD’s Certification Institute is delighted to bring the partnership with LSU Online to our APTD and CPTD recipients as another way to highlight their knowledge, expertise and accomplishments,” said Morgean Hirt, director of credentialing at ATD. “Pairing the hands-on work experience and knowledge gained by their ATD credential with rigorous academic work will bring a new group of leaders to the workplace to help organizations and employees achieve their goals. We are pleased that our certifications can help put an academic degree in closer reach for our certificants.”

“I am thrilled that the partnership between ATD and LSU Online can use prior learning assessments, or PLA, to fulfill college credits in our programs,” said Missy Korduner, LSU School of Leadership and Human Resource Development assistant professor of professional practice and local ATD chapter president. “It recognizes that professionals often have a wealth of experience through other training and professional development that are relevant to obtaining a college degree. It's a win-win for everyone involved by breaking down barriers and further opening doors to those interested in completing their degree.”
Along with a personal enrollment concierge to guide them through the application process and a dedicated learner concierge to support them from program acceptance to graduation, online degree students will work with experienced faculty to prepare for lifelong careers. The application deadline for the fall term is October 5. Visit online.lsu.edu/ATD for more details on credits earned from ATD certifications.
