Course Description

This course prepares paralegal students to assist attorneys representing debtors and creditors in bankruptcy matters. The course emphasizes procedures and their practical applications, including interviewing clients, preparing and reviewing schedules, and preparing claims and motions. The course reviews the U.S. Trustee System and the federal bankruptcy code.

This course is a part of the Paralegal Studies Program. You must apply and be accepted into the program in order to enroll in this course.

Prerequisites

This is an elective course in the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program. Students must have successfully completed the four core courses of the program in order to enroll in this course. Principles of Paralegal Studies, Legal Research, Legal Case Analysis, and Civil Litigation I.
