Course Description

This is an online, self-paced course. The purpose of this course is to understand the six basic requirements to form a valid contract, the remedies available for a party’s breach of contract, and the role of the Uniform Commercial Code (La. R.S. 10:1-101 et seq.). Upon successful completion of this course, each student should be able to: Describe and identify the six basic requirements of a contract; Understand and explain the writing requirement; Describe and identify the types of contracts recognized in Louisiana; Understand basic contractual terms; and, Develop the skills necessary to draft contract provisions.

This course is a part of the Paralegal Studies Program. You must apply and be accepted into the program in order to enroll in this course.

Prerequisites

This is an elective course in the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program. Students must either be currently enrolled in or have successfully completed the four core courses of the program to enroll in this course.
