Course Description

This course is an overview covering the major areas of Health Care Law. It will include sections on obtaining and handling medical records, medical malpractice, public and private health insurance, health care fraud and abuse, and the laws of health care organizations. This course will provide you with instruction on how to obtain and handle medical records for various types of legal actions, basic aspects of medical malpractice law, rules and regulations governing public and private health insurance, laws and regulations covering health care fraud and abuse, and the laws and regulations governing various types and kinds of health care providers. Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to understand the basics of Health Care Law.

This course is a part of the Paralegal Studies Program. You must apply and be accepted into the program in order to enroll in this course.

Prerequisites

This is an elective course in the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program. Students must have successfully completed the four core courses of the program in order to enroll in this course.
