Course Description

This is a continuation and update of the OLLI course I taught 4 years ago. New material: There are now blood tests for early detection of neurodegeneration. Supplements have been identified that help prevent cognitive decline, others that enhance memory and cognition. There is a new understanding of how exercise improves neuronal health. Quality sleep is now understood to remove toxins from the brain to help keep neurons healthy. Recently completed research shows reversal of decline in some individuals experiencing early neurodegeneration. The program being used in that research will be discussed in class and references to it will be provided. The course will include curated links to additional new material on preventing dementia. Type: Discussion and Lecture.
