POHSB - Tradecraft of Modern Terrorism
Course Description
This course highlights the modern planning and attack structure of an extremist group or individual planning an attack. Through educated discussion, the course highlights the most predominant tactics extremists use to plan for and execute an attack. Pre-attack surveillance, training, and rehearsals are the stages of the planning cycle that are often observable and can offer opportunities to identify plots and prevent attacks.
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Describe the categories of modern terrorism.
- Define the primary goals of terrorist groups and individuals.
- Categorize the phases and tasks of the terrorist attack cycle.
- Appraise low-tech terrorism devices.
- Recognize diverse forms of surveillance techniques.
Requirements:
- This online course requires access to a computer with internet access, email, an Internet browser (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox recommended), MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Format:
- Online self-paced with two weeks to complete the course.
