Course Description

The depictions of people in films, particularly in films made in the US ("Hollywood"), really shapes how people view a community and its people. In this class, we will view six films that depict Louisiana in various ways. These films include The Skeleton Key (2002), The Waterboy (1998), Steel Magnolias (1989), My Louisiana Sky (2001), All the King's Men (2006), and The Louisiana Hussy (1959). We will discuss various cinematic techniques such as lighting, mood, acting, soundtrack, etc.
