Bienvenido Spain! Join OLLI for ASpotlight on Spanish Wines
Spain is home to one of the most
diverse, exciting wine cultures in
Europe. And even among the best
regions and producers, this excellent
wine is often remarkably affordable.
There are many different names for the
wines produced in Spain. The names
depend upon the region where they’re
made and the grapes that they’re crafted
from. In general, Spanish wine is called
vino de España (wine of Spain), vino rojo
(red wine), vino blanco (white wine), vino
rosado (rosé wine), and vino espumoso
or espumante (sparkling wine). The
central wine regions of Spain are Rioja,
Rueda, Jerez / Sherry, Rías Baixas, Toro,
Ribera del Duero, and Valdeorras. Cava
(the great Spanish sparkling wine), often
called Cava Champagne, is produced
mainly in Catalonia. Learn more about

Advanced English Skills
Online Distance Learning courses and microcreds are for-credit courses and might require more advanced English skills, equivalent to a C1 level on the Learner Self-Assessment Form. Be sure to read through each of the categories under Column C1 to make sure you meet proficiency requirements.
