Course Description

Discover the instructor’s fascination with Alaska by covering its geography and the history of its journey to statehood, including its population distribution and transportation systems. A combination of plate tectonics, volcanism, and ice sheets formed present-day Alaska. National parks, forests, and monuments are prominent features of the state. Native people groups occupied the state before white men discovered it. The state has a rich diversity of biotic resources that are in danger of being damaged by pollution. Join me as we investigate several facets of the 49th state. Type: Discussion and Lecture.
