Course Description

In so many ways we in Louisiana are defined by what we eat. Let's create a group that prepares and curates a website of Louisiana recipes. Why is this important? First it will reflect the history of Louisiana by telling its food story. Secondly it will allow us to tell our personal stories by contributing to the site. Thirdly it will reflect all the people who have contributed to making Louisiana what it is today, because our recipes reflect us and our heritage. Join me and a corp of interested recipe collectors to make this a national repository for Louisiana heritage. In the class we will learn about writing recipes, photographing food, unearthing recipes and coaxing recipes out of family and friends who may hold those recipes dearly. We will also learn about the history of Louisiana, and how we reflect on the rest of the country and the world. It is my hope that this course can be a zoom course so that all of Louisiana can participate, including you. You will meet people from all over the state, and we can cook the food and share stories like the good Louisiana citizens that we are. Type: Discussion and Lecture.
