Course Description

This will be a five-part course in the month of March 2026. It will begin with a history of Commodore Perry's visit to Japan. This will be followed by a presentation on Japanese gardens. The third lecture will focus on the art and history of Kimekomi dolls. The series will culminate with a presentation focusing on the History and Music of Puccini's “Madame Butterfly” and the Glover Gardens in Nagasaki, which have been developed to honor this story.
