Course Description

Are you ready to look at American history not just as dates and names, but as your personal journey. This is your invitation to a course using videos and images designed to bring the American past vividly to life by skipping the dusty lectures and exploring history as a living, breathing story that you can truly see, feel, and connect with personally. We’ll delve into different dimensions of history appreciation: viewing the past through powerful art, iconic images, and documentaries; reading about history; learning how to get the most out of museums and historic sites; thinking about history while exploring the fascinating "why" behind America’s biggest moments; imagining history through creative storytelling; and making and writing history by connecting our own memories and experiences to larger historical themes.
