Course Description

Mahjong 101 offers a comprehensive introduction to the American game of Mahjong, designed for beginners and casual players looking to deepen their understanding. Through interactive lessons and guided play, students will learn the tiles, rules, structure and strategy of Mahjong. Topics covered include tile recognition and grouping, understanding suits, forming winning hands, scoring basics and etiquette at the table. By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently play a full game, recognize key hand types and apply foundational strategies. Whether you’re aiming to play socially or explore mahjong more seriously, this course builds the skills and confidence needed to enjoy this classic, intellectually stimulating game. No prior experience is needed.
