The Construction Foreman Certification Program is a comprehensive, turnkey solution designed for new or existing foremen to provide them with a solid foundation for their first role in field leadership. This rich and robust online program provides valuable knowledge and practical tools that individuals can immediately apply on the job site. Participants learn to communicate effectively with crews and lead them efficiently, productively, and safely — equipping frontline supervisors with the skills needed to tackle any job site challenge. The program serves two key organizational objectives: risk reduction and employee retention. This program is offered in partnership with NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research).

Courses will cover the following topics:
Leadership and Supervision: Explores the connection between ethics and leadership and teaches leadership principles and strategies. It also explains the role of a supervisor, including solving problems, coaching and managing performance.
Communication: Covers the effective communication methods critical to a foreman's success. The course covers specific communication challenges a foreman faces and offers practical advice and techniques to improve communication skills.
Quality: Focuses on the importance of doing work right the first time and the need to understand and communicate the quality requirements. It teaches how to build support around the importance of quality, how to maintain it and develop a quality culture.
Productivity: Covers the processes critical to making work productive, including planning and scheduling, and managing tools, information, materials and logistics.
Safety, Heath, and Environment: Covers key concepts such as leadership in safety, the cost of incidents and injuries, safety best practices, hazard recognition and remediation, safety education and training, incident and emergency preparedness and protecting the environment.
Requirements
Participants will earn the NCCER Construction Foreman Certification upon:
- Passing all assessments in courses
- Meet the minimum experience requirements
- The experience requirement for the NCCER Certified Foreman credential is a minimum of two years of journey-level experience in the craft you currently lead or will be responsible for leading. Experience as crew lead or foreman also satisfies the requirement.
- Note: Candidates for the Construction Foreman certification do not have to meet these requirements to be eligible to take the courses and the assessment. However, NCCER will not issue your certification until you meet all requirements.
These online courses require access to a computer with Internet access, email, an Internet browser (Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox recommended), MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Duration
This online certificate is comprised of 5 courses and learners have three months to complete the entire program.
