FPDAI - The AI-Conscious Instructor
Course Description
Facilitated by the LSU Online Design & Development team, this instructor-led 4-week asynchronous online course is designed for anyone who is interested in learning how to incorporate generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT to assist in designing, building, and facilitating a course. You will encounter various examples of how to use AI to complete various course-related tasks such as writing course outcomes and learning objectives, brainstorming ideas for and constructing instructional content, and preparing feedback for students based on assignment instructions. You can anticipate spending approximately 8-10 hours to finish this course. Topics covered in this course include:
- Creating the basic design of your course with the support of AI, including composing outcomes and learning objectives, as well as brainstorming resources, activities, and assessment ideas
- Creating or revising instructional materials and activity and assessment directions with the support of AI
- Enhancing instructor presence through effective communication and feedback with the support of AI
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Choose appropriate AI tools to help you design, build, or facilitate your course.
- Write suitable prompts, with appropriate details, to help you design, build, or facilitate your course.
- Assess the output of generated content for accuracy and take the appropriate action to follow up to meet the needs of your course.
