Course Description
Digital Twins integrate expertise from multiple disciplines to create dynamic, data-driven virtual replicas of real-world facilities, equipment, or processes. This introductory course provides an interactive foundation in the principles and practical applications of Digital Twins. Students will explore the core components and architectural layers of a Digital Twin system, learn how to interpret a technical plan, evaluate industry frameworks, and gain an understanding of the taxonomy that defines a typical Digital Twin ecosystem. This course is designed for those looking to build essential knowledge and skills for working within Digital Twin projects and environments.
Course Outcomes:
- Identify and describe the architectural layers and components of a typical digital twin system, including data, models, and feedback loops
- Develop a strategic technical plan for a digital twin project, translating business and operational objectives into structured high-level roadmap with measurable outcomes
- Evaluate different digital twin archetypes by interacting with sample systems and analyzing their use cases

This course includes a sandbox enviroment that allows learners to gain hands-on experience using Digital Twin software.
