Course Description

In this course, we will be reading Bernard Bailyn's The Ideological Origins of the American Revolution. In this work, Bailyn explores the eclectic group of writings which inspired the American Revolution, from classical sources to Enlightenment philosophers to writings from the English Civil War. Each week we will read a chapter and discuss the sources that shaped the thought of the Revolutionary generation. Type: Discussion/Lecture.
