Course Description

In this introductory abstract painting class, we will explore textures, color themes, and techniques through experimentation. Our primary medium will be acrylic
paint. We will investigate various styles of abstract art, including those of artists such as Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Lee Krasner, and others. The class will
focus on creating textures using different mediums, including gesso, impasto, coarse texture, and modeling paste. Additionally, we will incorporate various textured
papers between layers to add an intriguing element to our pieces. The exciting aspect of abstract art is the freedom to play with colors; the interaction between
different hues will set the tone for the final artwork.

Type: Hands-on.

Required Supplies: Acrylic paint (Blick Studio 24-color
set), palette knives, mixed-media brush set (4), and a flat
chip brush—all available at DickBlick.com.
