Course Description

This course is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage thoughtful discussion, and deepen appreciation for the diverse people who shaped Louisiana’s past. Whether you are interested in history, culture, science, or simply want to better understand the landscape around you, this course offers an opportunity to explore the hidden evidence of Louisiana’s ancient and historic past. Participants will discover how artifacts such as pottery, stone tools, and food remains help tell stories of daily life and cultural traditions. It will also introduce the methods archaeologists use to locate, excavate, and interpret sites. By the end of the course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how archaeology helps tell the human story of Louisiana and why preserving these resources matters for future generations.
